I am in the same boat. 2001 FLHPI 95inch build, with Rinehart 2 into 1, SE A/C, and a PCIII. The dealer dyno'ed it and set up the PCIII. 90HP and 97 pounds of torque. I run it pretty hard in and out of traffic. I hope for 37 to 38 MPG on 94 Sunoco. Its around 36 MPG most of the time. I just write the mileage off as a trade for the torque. At anothers sugestion I am going to tinker with the PCIII on my laptop and lower the idle numbers and see if that helps. She smokes a little when shes cold, I think the dealer has her running real rich.
I have the PC III with the Arlen Ness Big Sucker and Fuel Moto's custom Rush baffles and my fill up yesterday was at 196 miles and I put in 5.94 gallons. Talk about taking it to the extreme. That is only 33 MPG. I will be tweaking in my cruise range of 2-3K for better mileage.
I have a 2008 FLHTCU with the 103" stage II kit,I just went with the stage II download and the 4" S.E. slip ons,I have about 850 miles on the new build and last tankful I averaged 41.19 miles to the gallon riding two up,we live in the Sierra foothills of Northern California and all of our riding is at 500' elev. and up,Granted the bike is still running a little on the warm side with just the download but it runs great. No pinging,no decel pops at all so I'm gonna leave it where it's at and enjoy, your gas milage should come up some as the new build gets broken in but more than likely your probably a little on the sweet side on your fuel management settings, which isn't all that bad for the thighs.
Dalton nailed it, it is in the tune it is posible to get 40+ even with bigger builds. I get a avrage of 42mpg with my build and that is depending on if I am behaving or not. The timing and fuel need to be right to get power and good mpg.
Yup you have a problem. I have an 08Rk with a 103 with a 30 tooth trans sprocket 253 camand Sert. Build has 2500 miles on it andgets 40 to 45 mpgdepending on how hard you twist it. But after the build it ran way rich and after 3 attempts by the dealer to tune it I about gave up. So while at bike week took it to Cyclerama in Pinellas Park, Fl. After they tuned it runs like a top not to mention the mileage improved. Money well spent. So keep after it the tune is more than likely the issue.
