Maybe its the fact of having the fresh build on the engine. I know I dont like to do anything real major on the bike just before a long trip. Just in case, you never know.

+1. Agreed, may just be as simple as the fresh build. Take her out for a few "weekenders" and see how she feels.

I postponed my 103 upgrade until I completed an 1,800 mile trip into Mexico. I'd definitely do what others are recommending and at least put a good 400 to 500 miles on the rebuild before racking up endless miles.

i agree on everybody's recomendation. if you are a HOG road assistance or AAA member, you should not worry. for sure there will be a near HD dealer to your rescue. have a safe ride...

like I said on the chat side where you posted the same thread, 99.9% on here can not take the time to take such a trip, I leave in 8 days for the coast from Georgia & cannot hardly wait to get on the road. Enjoy the ride.

+1 on put some miles to feel better about the motor, then to there is the fact that the roads aren't as safe as they once were. People are to busy to care about motorcycles any more, to many cell phones to peoples ears and think or doing other things. So we need to be extra careful on the roads if in doubt allow them to go first, slow down, and pay attention to everything.
Today I came upon a lady in the slow lane going 45 MPH, as I passed in the middle lane ( 6 lane, I-85) she had a phone to her ear, about a 1/2 mile up the road she suddenly pulled to the far leftlane directly in front of two other drivers coming up on her (didn't even look when she finished her conversation), caught it in my rear view, she went about 2 miles at 75 MPH passing me again, suddenly she dropped back to 45 and swerved to the far right lane in front of two truckers who hit their brakes to keep from rear ending her, she didn't hear them for the phone again. She must drive like hell when she isn't on the phone & do 45 MPH in the right lane when she is. But she never looked at anytime as she changed lanes. The sad part two kids were in the back seat in car seats, learning how to drive, lucky I was in my truck, not the bike. Be careful, good luck, and enjoy your time in the saddle.

I would say do some miles first but pad your wallet a little extra just in case. HD dealerships are like McDonald's now so if you have a problem chances are you won't be too far from one. Plus, there are tons of indys now, too. So, I say go for- enjoy your trip and find something else to worry about.
