YOu can go to aDo it yerself exterminator store, they got little packages of food for rats. Do not open it, throw them out around different places, When the rat chews into it and eats it Whammo. Also set some traps out. They got into my boat and chewed up rods and all kinds of stuff. I put the rat food out and got rid of them.
I was a life long confirmed cat hater. We moved to the country and in a 3 month period and had $1000 in wire damage to our vehicles by rats. My mechanic asked if I wanted a cat. I gladly accepted. Turns out the cat was knocked up... We kept 2 kittens and gave the rest away, and got all 3 fixed. We have had no rat problems since. They stay outside, with access to the garage. After a while the little bastards have become my friends. So much for being a cat hater....
They do like to nap on my bike seat, and sometimes leave muddy cat prints on the bike. I prefer that to chewed wires!
Yep, poison the heck out of them. Had an infestation in my garage (not connected to the house) last year. They did a job on my wife's engine compartment, mostly ripping the insulation up to make a nest. Placed De-con all over the place and they were gone in no time.
Now I've heard everything! What a simple solution and you haven't figured it out. Move the bike to the bedroom and put the ole lady in the shed (barn). Youprobably spend more time in the shed anyway, might as well kill two birds with one stone.
CATS, best mouser I know of, especially if you don't feed them regular. But you need to feed them some or they will eat the bike. Poison doesn't work for long as the rats wait to see one eat it if he dies they don't eat it, they also eat small amounts till they build up immunity to it.
If yor bike is black, just put it out in the sun for a few hours.
I had mice in my wifes Audi, they eat anything they can find, paper, padding, and wiring.
I took the car to the collision shop I work at and put it in the paint booth and BAKED IT at 170 degrees with the windows down for an hour and a half.
NO MORE MICE
Thank everyone for the response. I have tried the posion and traps. Guess I'll try the moth ***** and the soap. The problem with the cat is I have 2 dogs that do not like cats. Don't think the cats will stay around long.
