Ok here is my dilema. I just receveid my new pipes from the guy in the brown truck last night. I went witht eh Python Mambas TD. I have the SE heavy breather already on the bike. I am leaving for a trip to California on the 22nd. Here is the problem. I have decided to go with the SERT as I intned to do more performance mods in the future as well. I have just over 900 miles on the bike now. I called my dealership yesterday to schedule my 1000 mile service and it will be done on Friday. I really want to put on my pipes before my trip but I will not be able to get the bike tuned up tell end of the month after my trip. I am sure I will not be able to run the bike for approx 2000 miles with out some type of adjustment to the ECM with my current upgrades. So, do I just sit back and wait to put on the pipes after my trip and have it tuned. I am sure I already know the answer to this one. My next concern is I have a trip planned in late June and I am wanting to order a chopped tour pack for the trip. I am being told that painted parts are on a long waiting list. If I wait to make my order any longer do you think I will get it in time for my ride?
Like I said I am sure I already know the answer to my questions but as I am sure everyone else agrees it is sometimes nice to get assurance from other riders and their take on things before I do my own thing. I just dont want to mess up my bike and I am a very impatient person. Anyway the bike is a 08 SG. Thanks for letting me get all this out and any advice is appreciated. Ride safe.
Call the dealer back and see if you can get everything put on and tuned at the 1k service. If that's not an option then personally I would wait to do anything until after the trip. Waiting might not be a bad idea anyway as I am always a little gun-shy of having major work done right before a long trip.
I would order the tour pak now if you want it by the end of June. I ordered a tourpak spoiler nearly 6 weeks ago and its still not in...it had to be painted to match my Anniversary Ultra.
