Planning a trip to Pennsylvania this summer. Probably gonna go to York and maybe Gettysburg. Any other places that is a must see. Looking for a 4 day trip. It'll take me about 10 hours from NW Ohio. Thanks in advance.
That was on the agenda. I read it's only a hour tour. Don't know how accurate that is though. Looking for some other sites to go to also. Maybe even some can't miss places to eat. Getting cabin fever not being able to ride. This is my first winter with a bike and we have the coldest winter I can remember.
on the way thru southwestern pa, try to pick up rt 40 "National Road" nice road till you get Hancock maryland, then just a short jount north to Gettysburg. Hancok to gettysburg traffic is heavy, but from my experience any way in it get congested but doesn't last that long (mileage wise, time wise always seems like forever.) Lots of look out points, few museums worth a walk thru at Fort Braddock. Old stone toll house, Ohiopyle waterfalls, stuff like that. Return trip Take Rt 30 the lincoln highway, leaving gettysburgh traffic is a bear till you get to Chambersburg again not a long distance mileage wise then it opens up nice. Lots of stuff to stop and see along the way, old gas pumps, murals painted on sides of barns. Bedford has something like 13 covered bridges that are cool to find, actually a brochure out with them all lined up in a loop. Also gravity hill is in bedford where your bike will roll uphill. Somerset has the flight 93 memorial, and the que creek mine. All in all it affords you to ride on decent roads, beautiful mountain scenery with lots of little stops or points of interest, not one think would be worth to drive any distance to see (with the exception of flight 93 memorial) but put them all together its a great active ride where you see alot. Need any info or more specific's PM me I have a ton of info, and have done this ride or parts of it several times, and have a ton if info. Its winter here and I'm bored too.
I have been to Gettysburg several times. Must Eat Places: #1. Dobbins House for dinner. Very nice been there for 200 hundred years. Tavern in the basement.
#2. For lunch CASHTOWN in eight miles West of Gburg on US 30. Was there in the Civil war and was Stonewall Jackson HDQ. Neat joint haunted.
I have also toured the factory in York. Make sure they are open and don't go close to July. Model change time and you can not tour the whole plant.
You can also go south to MD lots of neat places if you like the Civil War.
Have a great trip. Be sure to stop at Battlefield HD in Gburg.
