I have 600 miles on my 08 FLHTC, anyway is it normal for the front of the engine cases(where it splits) to have what looks to be "wet" with oil? Any help would be appreciated
NO it is not normal. This has been a real problem on some of the 08 models. As you stated the cases are actually weeping. I have a friend that bought 08 Ultra, Anniversary bike and he had the same problem. They had to tear his bike down and replace the cases. You need to take it back to dealer and have them do the same for you. Tell them you know for a fact that this is a problem on some bikes and you want it fixed right. Good luck !!
Before you through H-D under the bus....with only 600 miles on the new bike....the least bit of oil on the engine will spread when it gets hot and make it look like a gallon is on the engine.
I would use something like simple green to clean the engine and then watch the area again. Also remember that your front wheel transfers road stuff to that area....I wouldnt jump on a pourous case band wagon just yet.
well make sure to get it fixed while under guarantee, because i had the same thing on a 2000 fatboy that
didnt surface right away, and they wouldnt fix it till i really REALLY bitched about it, even though its an
obvious defect, after 4 years (i had extended guarantee) they dont consider it thier problem anymore.
just a heads up....it only seemed to weep near the oil filter, and i always assumed it was from the maintenence, never had a lot of oil, i assume it would burn off....they only noticed it when i had the 95" upgrade, and they noticed the pocks in the lower case....
