I just bought a Magellan 3100 on closeout at Target for $104.00. I was in the same boat. Kinda wanted one to just get me around in strange towns and didnt want to drop a bunch of cash. Ive tested it a few times now and it works great. I plug the headphone jack into my aux in and out the speakers so I hear it fine and dont have to watch the screen much. Its not weather proof, but I can deal with that for the amount of money I have invested.

Here is one on e-bay for $129.00

Magellan

I bought a Garmin Nuvi 350 from Walmart and mounted it on my handlebar with the e-Caddy Deluxe bar mount $50. Had to buy a mount adapter from Proclip for $30. I've been to the Smoky's with it twice and it saved the ride. It's an awesome set up.Of course now I'm always "pullin" on group rides but that's o.k too.

I'm an avid Garmin fan, and use them in my cars/trucks. However, for the price, I went with the Magellan CrossoverGPS. It has an 8 HOUR battery life, costs less than 300$, is motorcycle friendly, hiking friendly, and boating friendly.

Garmin GPSMAP76CS is what I use on the bike, on the water, or in the woods. You can plot everything out on your computer and then upload to the gps. And later download to your computer and save your trips.

ORIGINAL: Neckball

Or try a refurbed Garmin 2610 - Google it, TVNAV.COM is usually a good source - should be 300 or so....
Yep. I found one on ebay, a refurb unit with a one year warranty for less than $250.

I also use a 2610 with a 1 gb card. Have used the dickens out of it on a bunch of trips, and it is worth it's weight in gold. You can get some good prices on the net for them. I like it because it isn't affected by vibration, works great, waterproof, cost. Ihave it wired directly into the cigarette lighter. got the mounts from cyclegadgets.com

My Garmin 330 cost less that $250. Works as good as a Zuomo, except it's not waterproof.

I use a Garmin Quest (ebay refurb)

The loooong battery life means I dont need to have it wired to the bike.
It beeps at me to let me know of an upcoming turn (I dont have the audio part connected to the bike). It is waterproof.

I also like to use Mapsource to plan my routes (Destination Highways) and then download to the device. I also like to upload from the GPS so I can see where I've been (great if you've found some new roads)

On the down side the memory on the Quest (not the Quest 2) is only enough for approx 2-3 states
(I have BC & WA).

If money were no object then I'd be running A Zumo but for $150 this thing rocks.

YUP...I use an old quest on my wide glide and the Harley factory one built in the audio system for 1200 bucks on my Ultra. They both get me where I want to go.
