Hello all, Got me a new set of Iso Grips, I got the throttle side installed with no issues.
The Glue that came with the grips was empty(or more likely dried up)so I got me some tri-bond Grip lock ( I think from the harley shop) I spread some out on the bar and the next morning seemed pretty tight but after a few days it loosend up and I could very easily pull the grip right off?
I have two questions"
1. Is the grip supposed to inside of the switch housing? I can't remember if the original one was or not.
2. Is there any special glue that has to be used with these grips? or i may have just not put enough on.
I had the same problem Two years ago. I used gorilla glue now I think I will need to cut them off to remove. The iso grips don't go under the switches like the throttle.-Eric
Had the same thing happen to me on my 08. Take the grip back off, sand the handlebar down good and instead of putting the glue on the bars squirt some down the sides of the grip itself. A little bit on all sides and then push it back up and let it sit overnight and that should work, if not go for the GORILLA !!!
Funny you mention the glue was empty or dried up. I thought the same thing until I unscrewed the top. There was enough in there to do the job. I just could'nt get any to come out the little pin hole
Just did mine and the glue was a biotch to get out of the hole. The instructions say to sand the old glue off then clean with solvent or denatured alcohol, both bars and inside of grips. When both were dry, put the glue inside the grips as instructed and slid the grips on. No problem.
Buddy told me to use hair spray also, his held aboput 100k miles. He says cheap too
If your talking about the throttle side it fits inside the housing I beleive, but the break side should just need a little CRAZY glue around the base, just make sure the bars are cleaned and use some steelwool and wipe clean. i had not prob using super glue.
