Default New 124" build in the making

The check is in the mail for a GMR 124" build. It will consist of

Axtell flat top pistons (10:8:1)
S&S 4 5/8 crank plugged by Hoban
Woods TW9BG-7 cam
SE billet camplate with '07 oil pump
R&R Cast heads
HP Inc 55mm TB
4.91 injectors
Timken upgrade

I'll reuse the current parts

Cam gears
adjustable pushrods
lifters
roller rockers
Thundermax with Autotune
Big Sucker AC

I'll start off with the D&D Fat Cat but will eventually swap it to the Bub 7 duals with the crossover. It should be a fun ride with the sidecar installed. Good deals coming this summer on the current 98" setup. Steve has been great and it shows as me being a repeat customer.

Are you going to do the Timken bearing conversion or did you already have it done? I am considering a build for my engine at this time. It seems that I would be better off going whole hog for the 124" vs. doing a 95 or 98 on my stock 88" as it seems that a lot of guys end up there after doing a smaller build. Why are you going to a larger engine?

Is the 124" good for touring or is it reallylike a racing engine or can it be built for lower rpmtorque?.

I have a Thundermax now on the 88" and I see that you are keeping it on the 124". What has your cruising mpg been with the 98"? and what are you looking for in the 124"? Does GMR have a base MAP for you to use?

Sorry for all of the questions, but inquiring minds need to know.......

Whatever happened to your lawsuit against that shop that you had a beef with?

I will have Skip's do the case boring and timken conversion for me. They are a great shop and close to where I live. I'm going with the larger setup for a couple of reasons. One is that HP/TQ is addictive and the other is because I am adding a sidecar and want plenty of low rpm torque. I talked to Steve about this and this is what we decided upon. With the 98" setup, I average 45 mpg on the hwy/back roads with 49 mpg being the best. I'm sure this will drop a little with the 124" but should be able to get in the low 40's. I've heard others with 120" builds getting around this.

I haven't forgotten about it. I haven't been able to pursue it due to work commitments. I have remained busy between being away for schools and now being deployed in Africa. You have probably noticed that I haven't spent much time home since 9/11.

Whoooeee, you'd better load the side car with a lot of ballast !

You should be able to get pretty decent mileage with a good tune. Mine is not dialed in yet and still getting 42 or better for the most part.

Keep us informed.

Thats better then my 95" 1999Ultra gets by at least 10mpg. The best MPG I have hit is 37MPG usually 34mpg. Maybe its the MM EFI or the PC3 even my EVO hit 39mpg. Whats the bore size? I was thinking of the S&S 4.5" stroke and HD's 4.06" bore113? Thinking of this for a future build....Thanks for your help...
