I see that several of the one's on Ebay are offered without the software and cables. Does this make them unuseable for a home tuner, or can the software be borrowed from another owner. Same question about the cable
wouldn't buy the one that is obsolete now! I just bought the super tuner on my 08 FLHTC and the tuner at the dealer will be dynoing it first of next week. Get the new and improved and then have it dynoed. Yes, the cost is 550.00 but it's the bomb. Go for it.
If you buy one on ebay, make sure it is unopened. If it is open, I would think it has been used and then it will not work on your bike. The little black box is specific to only one ecm.
Somebody else's software and cables will work on your bike. I don't know what the most current software release is though.
i had heard reason for the super tuner was that there was some issues with the original tuner
out of the box alot of them were failing. i have the original tuner and have not had any problems
with it. the cables are a seperate purchase they do not come with the tuner not sure
on the new super tuner. as for the software you can use somebody elses software it doesnt
check for a registration code just put it in your laptop and load it.
I had a conversation with a local dyno tuner about this. He told me that the original manufacturer of the SERT had a falling out with the MOCO. So Harley went with a new supplier and a new design. He also said that the original SERT was just about bullet proof and he has not had any significant problems with them. I'm going to continue my search for an original SERT, with software, for use on my RoadGlide. If anyone has a source for one of these, I'd appreciate a heads up.

Tell us what's so new and improved about it for 550.00? Thats almost 250.00 than what I can get the original for. and for most people the original one will do just fine. The original is a rip off at 300.00. Most people only do a stage1 and pipes or some combination and others may do a cam at the most and the original will handle that without a doubt. Unless your on the track I'm not wasting my money on the "new and improved" SUPER DUPER race tuner. MOCO has got enough of my cha ching.
