The cruise control module (HD PN 70989-04) on my 2004 Ultra has gone belly up. I have received 2 new modules and both of them do not work.
I was wondering if anyone in the NoVA area with a working HD cruise control would mind meeting me at their convenience for about 10-15 minutes so I can see if the new modules are defective. All I have in mind is removing the left saddle bag and cover, unplugging the CC connector and plugging the connector into my new module (which is not installed on my bike). I then would like to hold the resume button, toggle the CC switch to on, and set the ignition to on. The CC indicator should be green. End of test. I unplug my CC module, re-connect the plug to your module, re-install the saddle bag and cover, and say "Thank you very much."
The CC module should be the same for 2004-2007 touring bikes.
I had my 07 to the shop 4 times for CC failure. They changed the module and it worked for a short time. They changed the switch and messed with everything and it worked again for a short time.
Eventually they found a pin in the connector that wasn't making good connection. Since then it's worked like new. Can be very difficult to find the problem if it's a loose connection. I really doubt that all your modules are failing.
Are you sure it is supposed to light if its not up to speed say over 35? I'm just putting that out there, not sure if you have tried it going down the highway I know it seems stupid but just thought I'd ask!
