I had the 1 piece slash down and they sounded great!! Now with that being said the 2 piece are quieter then the 1 piece plus you will get a different sound for each end cap you use.
The SE Slipons are a GREAT pipe, but in the end you may wanna change out the headpipes to a True Dual design (V&H, Bassani might be others) that lets you use any slipon mufflers. I noticed it ALOT more when I changed out my mufflers the dominating sound from 1 pipe. I didn't care for it when I have the look of duals. It's just my little irritation. LOL It was with the stock headpipes though not the Slipons.
The reason I changed out my SE's was because I love the look of the V&H Ovals better, now just HOPE they sound just as great if not better once they are installed.
98B's here and they get louder by the mile. Had the V&H Bigshots on my Softail and my riding buddys (all stock bikes, so no bias) say they sound better than the V&H, listen to as many bikes as possible, then decide on the sound and numbers you are looking for. GL.
I have the 64903-99 Screamin' Eagle Pro One-Piece Performance Mufflers/Slash Down on my 06RK Custom and really like them. They have a good rumble to them which has gotten louder with time. I was on the fence about them being quiet somewhat in the begining but they are sweet now.

thanks all i dont think hearing my music will be much of a problem (i listen to such bands as behemoth, children of bodom, dimmu borgir etc)
I listen to more classic rock and I have the SE pipes. The AVC in the radio works very well keeping the volume up. I have a nice sound from the pipes too.
I have the 98B's on my SG. I went with a different baffle, the Mikuni Performance baffles. Made a huge difference in sound "deep" and performance. Kind of reminds me of the old glass packs. I also have the billet style end caps, don't know the difference in sound they make. My pipes were a little louder than some 98B's with stock baffles on a RG.
I went with the SE pro perf. haven't yet had a chance to hear them on the road, but I know there is a better sound in the shop than the touring mufflers I had. As far as the radio goes, I'll turn off the radio speakers just so I can listen to those two big deep base chrome speakers that are hanging below my bags. I also have the torn downs that are turned out.
