RE: Getting on EGC with Kickstand down, This okay?
In my opinion, it is better to have the bike up and balnced before mounting passenger, er, passenger mounting. Although mounting the passenger sounds good too.
RE: Getting on EGC with Kickstand down, This okay?
I always wondered about this. Glad someone asked.
Only recently started to ride with a passenger again but seems to be comfortable to get on the bike have it ready, She then puts a hand on my shoulder, steps on the peg and over from the left, just reverses it to dismount.
RE: Getting on EGC with Kickstand down, This okay?
I like to have the bike upright and the stand DOWN. This is very important! If your pillon mounts and you are not ready at least the bike doesn't go over. Don't ask me how I know. Also train your passenger to ask if you're ready before mounting.
RE: Getting on EGC with Kickstand down, This okay?
The proper and safest way for a passenger to mount and dismount a bike is with the rider holding the bike upright and steady with the front brake on and the jiffy stand up.
RE: Getting on EGC with Kickstand down, This okay?
Sometimes the wife is already on the bike and waiting when I get on (jiffy stand down). Most of the time I am holding the bike up, jiffy stand up, front brake on, and she mounts from the left.
She much prefers dismounting after the jiffy stand is down, and I am off the bike. She then swings her right leg across my seat, while still seated (being careful of the tank with her boot...) and dismounts on the left. I ask her why not just reverse how she gets on....she does not know why it is not comfortable, but I reckon it is her long legs.
As far as the strength of the jiffy stand, we have spent many an hour with the stand down and us both sitting on the bike-watching bike games, concerts, etc. No problems.

Not necessarily.....if the side stand is down and they plump themselves on the saddle they will compress the shocks and that will lever the bike to the right - possibly all the way over onto its right side!
RE: Getting on EGC with Kickstand down, This okay?
My wife is not a light weight and she is a short leged german girl so getting on with the larger seat is a bit hard for her.
With the bike on the jiffy stand she gets on first then I do.
That stand can take it and it aint going to fold up when someone is getting on.
