I,ve been in the Dyna section for a little while and never come over here. If I have my way that will most likely change. My local dealer has a 2007 White Road King "white is my choice color" with 6,040 miles on it . They want$16,040 for the bike and have offered me $7000 to $7700 on trade depending on the contition of my bike a 2004 Silver FXD. It is very clean and I hate to get rid of it. somebody will get a very good starter bike. Any way I am going back to the dealer in the morning to make an offer. My question tothe Road king family is DOES this sound like an ok deal. Is there any thing I need to know about the 2007 road kings
1.Transmission problems????
2.overheating problems????
3. Handlebar change out problems ???
Any help from those of you already ridinga 2007 Road king would be a God Send to me..any thing at all. Have any of you had a problem yet ....
Thanks
Marty
Is the bike mostly stock? What has been done to it? Meaning has there been any type of fuel management system installed? If not, you will need one. The bike will run much hotter than you are use to, and the fuel management will help with that. There were reports of transmission issues, but most have reported that the addition of the IDS helped their issues. See if the bike has had one installed. Swapping out bars are not bad. The stock seat is not the most comfortable, but will do until you can buy a more comfortable one.
Now, the price seems high to me, but see what you can negotiate off of it. You can get a brand new '08 for just a couple grand more... Also, if you aren't completely sold on this rk, look into a used police rk. They can be had for a great price (usually). But, if you have to have it, buy the dang thing. You will not regret it. I love my road king, and do not regret buying it, in the least. And lastly, buying a new (to you) bike is suppose to be an enjoyable experience. Have fun, and if something does not sit right with you, just walk away. There are lots of nice used bikes out there. No reason to settle on anything, or put up with any salesman crap... Good luck, and let us know how everything works out for you...
I ride an '07 RKC and have had no problems with it at all. I do not have a fuel management system and have no problems with heat. I have ridden through Death Valley with no problems. I have never had a problem with the transmission. I do not have IDS either. I'm looking at putting on a set of Wild1 518's here before too long though. The stock bars have you reach a little bit too much. I wear a size 13 boot, so I chucked that heel shifter. You might want to see how you like it first. The price is a little high. I bought mine brand new for 17.5K. As I also have a Dyna Lowrider, I can tell you that you are going to love the RK.
I have an 07RK;I paid$16,450base price, brand newbefore setup, taxes, ect. I would try to work the guy down a few dollars, but if he is firm on pricing, it will still be a good deal. The "Whitegold" (07 color) is more expensive paint sceme than other colors, so you are paying for the white. I like other have said, you cannot go wrong with the king especially if it has excessories on it.
I had 03 WG for 2 years and went to the King!!!!!!! When I was trading my 05 for my 07 I told the dealer that another dealer about an hour away was giving me $1,000 more for my 05. I told them I would rather give you the business if you can match the price and trade in. They took the bait and paid 15,500.00 for my 07 with 2,600 miles. The economy is slow so the dealers are sitting on inventory so bet they will probably want to move the bike instead of clean it on the showroom. The bike had arlen ness big sucker stage 1 download. I put V&H big shot duals, and XIEDS from nightrider customs and she runs smooth, no heat issues.
heat retune it with sert or pc111 or thundermax ,tranny noise fill it with redline or golden spectra and add ids if it doesnt have it already, handlebars are easy they run about 50 bucks but..... u have to cut the left side grip to get it off grips can run over 100bucks and cables and wire extentions if u go too high or wide best is to go narrower then u have extra lenght to go higher without changing cables
