the after market units will surprise you with there durability - I can still use the volume control with it-The alpine amps are very small (but will not fit in the fairing) and extremely powerful--bag space does not make a difference to me (got a tour pak)-if you don't mind losing space in the bags you can't beat Alpine digital amp -- spend the money and do it right the first time ---- my .02

A911 and Jskwarek...I have a question for you two. How the heck do you people get away with aftermarket head units when they are are not water resistant? I see and read this time and time again in the forums. Please help me out on this one! Mike
Plus 1 with everything lkr0 and a few others have said. I'd chime in here but I've alreadybeen around this blockmore than once.

a911scanner.... I run a sony head unit with the biketronics kit so the hand controls work...will the Blaupunkt 275PnP work on it as well??? I like the price point for sure and if its a pretty straight forward install I know I wouldnt have a problem tackling it......
Coolhawg,

Don't see why it wouldn't. I assume the Sony has RCA inputs, so you will have an easier time then I did with your gain set-up.

I'm a lot happier with it than I expected, but I didn't expect to have a system like Glideman because I know what that takes and wasn't willing to do it with my bike.

Inexpensive, sounds pretty damn good, fits in the fairing...how can you go wrong?

Sorry StreetGlideMedic I had already signed off last night when you posted. Like A911 said I am one of those that is willing to take the risk. After market head units are pretty durable and I just didn't like the HD head unit at all.

I started with the HawgWired install kit and while it is nicer visually it offered no way to protect the deck, so I ordered the Biketronics kit which recesses the head unit into the faring a bit and gives me a splash guard. If I were to get into a down poor this would offer me a little protection.

At the end of the day I was willing to spend the money and risk losing the head unit in a bad storm to get the sound and function that I wanted the rest of the time.

Unless you are going to inclose yourself in some sort of bubble / hardtop for your bike there is nothing out there that is worth it for sound quality when you're on the road. Don't waste your money unless you like listening to it in the gararage -- then buy a boombox and turn the bike off.

Don't be a hater buddy.... If you don't want a system then don't get one, but for my money I think my system sounds great at high speeds. Nothing like my old competition systems did in my cars, but I didn't expect it to compare.

I just recently put the hogtunes setup on my FLHTC. Mainly because I believed it to be a little cheaper and easier alternative to piecing everything together ( and I'd rather spend the time riding). While infact it does sound better now with 4 speakers, I'm not overly impressed with the setup. I, like 911, have been in the buiz at one time, and competed as well. That being said, I guess I'm just used to more. I'm going to take what I've got off and go with a alpine amp(had one in my truck for years) with a good quality line level converter and boston acoustic speakers. I expect the results will be much more to my liking. Alpine makes a small 4 channel amp (MRP-F250)which is fairly effecient, small and still offers 50X4 @ 2ohms. Im not endorsing or condoning any product, whatever you find that works for you, do it.

like the others have said not endorsing any products ---I really was not a fan of alpine equipment; always a pioneer person, that was until I heard it on someclub brothers bikes -- the head units are fantastic the digital amps are for real; 15 - 20 of us riding down the highway i could hear therechit crystal clear--- it was like dueling stereos at 80mph---those alpine digital ampsput out some serious sound---
