true duel or slip on
Okay, another newbie here. I've been told that I should go with V & H true duals with Rinehart mufflers on my '08 RKC because Rinehart has been having problems with their headers cracking. Anyone here have any insight on this?

I've had way too many turns at playing the "swap the exhaust" game,so here's my two cents:
Do NOT buy slash downs if you want to keep your hearing loss to a minimum.
DO buy V&H True Duals - it does reduce the heat to your passenger shins - somewhat.
V&H TD's did not make a bit of difference on low end or high end performance - on my bike.
My fifth set of muffler's are Rush's#15305's which are the tip compatible. You can use their tips, or the Motor Company's. I chose to use the Motor Company's #65068-98 Howitzer's. My choice of Rush baffles were the2" baffles (and even louder than the Rush #15301 tubes with 1.5" baffles I had before - Slash Downs) (they are for sale). The trick here is the louder baffles were actually quieter (to the riders) than the smaller baffles (in the other tubes I had installed) due to the fact the Howitzer tips gets the sound out behind you. I don't care what anybody says, the further back you can get the sound, the easier it wil be on your ears.
I've had two different sets of slash downs now, and there is something about the sound reflecting off the pavement and back up to the riders. E-way riding for even 1/2 hour grows tiresome.
Not true with the Howitzer's.
Here's the best part - they sound Awesome! Deep-Throaty-Harley Davidson sound!
And - they look great! How do I know how good they sound? EVERYONE tells me so!
will also be installing the NightRider XIED's at the same time.
Hopefully this will give my 08 R/G a nice bark, but not
obnoxious.

Later if you want to do the heads,,it does not seem that expemsive..
Did that and love the system.
The Mrs went right for the 2-1 road rage
Love that too
