My 05 started pinging on the rear cylinder, talked to the service department, they told me they have seen alot of the 05's that have a bad valve seal and they would try to get it warranty for me.I was glad to hear they were on my side, they also support alot of local charitys.Seem to be good people.I was hoping it would be a bad sensor or something, but after I had tried new plugs and such what he told me made sense.First problem in four years and 22,000 miles.
Yep, the 05's had a real run of bad valve seals. Once they start leaking you will build up a carbon/oil layer on top of the piston and in hot riding, there will be hot spots in the carbon causing detonation (pinging) while riding and it will get progresively worse. Glad the dealer is working with you.
I live in Fayetteville and work in Bentonville, so I am familiar with Pigtrail HD. I was initially pretty turned off by them setting up shop virtually next door to an established aftermarket shop and matching their 6 day business hours, and their double-the-price-with-crap policy on new bikes, but they seem to be doing OK on their service and the times I've needed a HD part, they have been OK. The important thing is that they don't have an adversarial attitude toward the customer.
If any of you guys are going to the Rumble in the Ozarks this Saturday, come up and say hello,I will be easy to spot as I will be on my Boss Hoss,my beloved eg will be in their service dept.to get the seals fixed, hopefully under warranty, would love to meet any of you guys!!
I am originally from that area but some how relocated to Dallas back in the 90's. I am leaving wednesday to do some riding backin Arkansasso I guess I better go by and see what they have to offer.
I go every year for BBBQ and seen the flyers they had all over the place.I just never made it over to the dealership.
