Would rather pay $21 to fill my bike than the $75 to fill my truck yesterday! Had to laugh the other day, I live 7 miles from work, 14 round trip - when I take my truck it uses 3/4 gallon. When I take the bike I burn 2+ gallons of gas - for some reason, it takes me 80 miles to get home from work - and people claim riding a bike saves gas!?!
My car gets 25 mpg on average, my bike is getting 35 mpg..................so the bike is still better, and a lot more fun. I'm still working on my DTT to get the mpg up, leaning out the cruise range a bit here and a bit there.
If I could just do 65mph on the highway, I'm sure my mpg would go up...........but that damn freeway just gets me going faster and faster.
Hey Maine,
I noticed the same thing.... When the bike hits 80 it uses more gas.... I try to keep it below that mark... But like you said... It sure is hard..
If I ever get my bike back I have more tuning to perform on my DTT also. I want to lean out the cruise to around 14 - 14.3 and measure my head temp. The outside temp is rising fast here in Texas... 90 - 94 all week/weekend.... I need to order a IR gun to keep an eye on the head temp... Like to keep it around 300 but no higher then 340.....
Makes me laugh... just seen the national average for regular unleaded.... 3.80 a gallon and I can't run it... Bike would ping like a bag of marbles
Ok boys, before anyone cries, I live ONE HOUR across the border into canada, and i've been paying $25+ for A LONG TIME NOW.... just gonna have to deal with it...
