Most of the MPG is all in the twist of the wrist if you have to be 1st from the light and the 1st one at the light there goes your MPG with over 7000 mile the worst i ever got has been 45 mpg It is the same thing with the loudness of the pipes . I here people say Rinehart's are loud. The only time mine are ifI amon the throttle.

Time to re-examine my driving habits...driving a bit slower is gonna get me 7 to 8 more MPG? Can't hurt to try.

I'm getting around 35 mpg around town - not too hard on the throttle.

Before the pipes and PCIII, was getting closer to 40. Best was about 43 on the hiway.

The bike runs so much cooler with the PCIII that I don't mind trading 5mpg to save my thighs from cooking.

I'll play with it to see if I can get the milage to improve a bit, but I'm not going to sacrifice the comfortable ride.

Thoses numbers are much closer to what people tell me they get. I suppose it can vary greatly with the 96's. Mine is still stock right now.

As I wrote in a thread yesterday:

"We returned today from a 1000 mile tour of the "Hill Country" The bike ( stock 07 EGC)never saw below 40 mpg, and got as high as 46 mpg. It had my wife and I, plus a week of clothes in the tour pack luggage and T-bag Supreme, plus other stuff in the saddlebags. Every nook and cranny had something in it.It got 40 mpgon the twisties on FM 1431 from Ceder Park, TX to Mason, TX, where 6th gear was non-existant, 5th gear sometimes, 4th gear most of the time, 3rd gear at times. The best was from Huntsville, TX on US 190, to Ceder Park TX, 46 MPG.
Things that did not happen to the bike were:
Nothing vibrated loose
Nothing fell off
Low End didn't scissor and lock up
Transmission didn't break
No codes popped up
No oil leaked anywhere
The bike did everything it was designed to do; Provide and enjoyable, reliable, trouble free ride. It was money well spent."

It was a beautiful ride, and will recommend it to anyone.
