MY son backed MY big Ford 350 diesel pickup into MY 07 Road King Classic. It bent the right rear turn signal assembly slightly, however, since that is anchored to the rear fender, it bent the fender at the turn signal and also bent the fender up under the seatwhere it almost touches the tire. The paint is also chipped around where the turn signal is connected. Any suggestions---- replace the fender ($400 at HD) or get a body shop to fix it?It appears as though the only damage is to the fender and turn signal. Hopefully nothing else was knocked out of line etc.
Wow, sorry that happened. I fear those days once my boys drive!
It may be a good idea to open a claim and then tell the insurance company you'll do the repairs yourself. Then with the cash you can shop around and get it done locally or upgrade to some custom parts, etc.
I think it depends on your state if the Ins. Co. will allow that, but in MI it's permissible.
If not, I'd suggest going to a local body shop for repairs and lookin around for the turn signal assembly.
Good luck and I hope you boy has a job to contribute to the repair!
I'm afraid to make an insuarnce claim on a 17 year old driver. The long term cost in insurance rate increase would outweigh the temporary fix. I can't bring myself to claim it was a hit and run like a buddy of mine suggested. That's why us honest people have such high rates now.
nows a perfect time to convert to a street glide rear end with smooth laydown license plate and bullet lights makethe best of it. then throw your boy a good ol' fashioned beatin'
