A friend of mine wanted to run royal purple in his bike. He runs it in his 70 cuda and loves it! He is having a hard time finding the MAX CYCLE but found the reg. 20-50 oil. It says on the bottle you can use it in motorcycles but then why would they offer the MAX CYCLE? Could he use the regular 20/50 or should he get the MAX CYCLE? Also does anyone know where in so. cal. you can get it? Thanks!
...Could he use the regular 20/50 or should he get the MAX CYCLE?...
If I understand RP's (and most other manufacturers) suggestion, the Max Cycle is recommended for wet clutch applications as this oil significantly reduces the chance of clutch slipping. Their regular oil should be fine for others applications.
As a side note, I've used the Max Cycle (both 10w40 and 20w50) for several years in various bikes with wet clutches with good results.
In South Florida, I'm having great luck with Lucas V-twin synthetic 20-50 in the motor, Mobil 90-140 synthetic in the trans and B &M Trick-shift in the primary.
