I have a friend that is deep into the custom car audio scene. I've been asking about some ideas for upgrading my E-glide system, just the fairing speakers with some added power. I've been reading through all the post I can find here about the Hawg-wired, Hogtunes, etc. systems and the one thing I notice is that they are very expensive. Probably because few companies make an amp that will fit in the fairing.
So he turned me onto this http://www.arcaudio.com/productdescr...125.2-mini.asp amp that is tiny and powerful. It is reported to be 80% efficient, which means that only 20% of the energy that is used is wasted as heat.
My friend recommened this amp and going with JL Audio, Infinity, or Polk Audio speakers. I'm seriously considering this upgrade. Anyone else heard of the ARC Audio amp? I'm not sure what the amp retails for but even if it is $300 it still a lot cheaper than Hawg-wired, which I was heavily leaning towards before I learned of ARC's Mini.
I think I have narrowed it down to this amp...plus, I have a buddy that is an Arc Audiodistributor so the price would even be better for me.
But, I would go with a component set that has a tweeter that can mount on axis like BA, CDT, ID, Morel, etc. Although, I dont think the Morels would do very good in an IB set-up. LOL Who are we kidding...that wouldn't matter anyway.
brypink- what do you mean by axis mounted...any links? Thanks in advance....
Meaning the tweeter mounts on the midbass speaker, like a coaxial speaker.
The brands I was referring to are Boston Acoustics, Image Dynamics, CDT Audio, and Morel. Just Google them...they will pop up. I ONLY saythis so you dont have to cut up your fairing to mount the tweeter. But, an "on axis" tweeter (not "axis" mounted) would probably do a MC set-up good.
Thanx for the info. I have the Hawg Wired system but I am always looking for new products to try out. I will be going to anArc Audioauth dealer near my workplace and getting some pricing and availability.
Yea let us know what they cost! Also where do you think it can be mounted? Is there room in the fairing. It's been a year since I had to open mine up and I don't remember.
I'm not sure if the OP is swapping out his HU too, but I know I will when I eventually get around to a stereo system upgrade (man, that sounds weird when referring to a MC).
