Default Scraping sound on turn

Still getting used to the new SG after riding a Sporty for a couple of years. A few times now I've made left turns and heard a scraping noise. Scared me at first. I think it's the kickstand but not sure. Never heard this on right hand turns. Anybody else get this?

Put some floor board extenders on it and you WILL get used to it.

I used to scrap kickstand and both floorboards almost every time I went out on my Heritage. I have ridden my sg about 2800 miles so far and have scraped kickstand once, but neither floorboard yet and I do have the 1" out extensions on the boards. You'll get used to it.

Try turning the handlebars. Really Iam not trying to be a smartazz but I had to relearn how to turn my road king after several years on my sporty. The sporty responds to a nice lean. The road king must be turned more and leaned less. Like ride like a pro says. "LOOK WHERE YOU WANT TO GO". Lift your head up and use your eyes.

Sounds like the dirt track racers telling the pavement racers "Turn right to go left!" OK, sounds like I need to get a copy of "Ride Like A Pro".

Get down on your hands and knees and look at the kick stand and floor boards. You'll see what is scraping.
Also, our genetic makeup causes us to lean harder in left turns than right turns. If you were born on the planet Xneneios it would be the opposite. They lean harder in right turns. 8-)

Most likely it's just your floor boards scraping and it's normal. Think of it as an early warning to not lean much farther. It will happen more on the left because almost everyone turns better to the left than the right. So you leanmore on left turns.Don't know why that is but they told us about it in MSF and then had us do turns to illustrate it. Don't worry about that turn the handle bars more stuff. Learn to scrape on both sides and grind those boards to a knifes edge. I just came off of a Heritage and used to scrape the boards all the time, and occasionally the hard stuff that the scraping sound is designed to warn you of. Since I got the RKC, I almost never scrape, but I'm getting better at it. I am having to learn to use the additional lean angle on my back and you are getting used to less lean angle.

Look at it this way, if you scrape everytime you turn, you know the tires are getting even wear.
