Does an 05's Ultras lowers have vents that open like an 07 would have? Also without 2 tone paint would they have pin stripes. I think I found some that may not need paint for my Standard.
HD introdced the vented lowers in 05. According to the HD parts accessory book, these are "paint to order". I assume that means if you have a vivid black bike with blue pin stripes you can order the lowers painted/striped like that.
I got a set a last year, vivid black...no stripes directly from a dealer in Iowa off ebay...new "overstocked" part for 200$ less than book cost.
On my '05 the lowers have the opening vents you mentioned but do not have any pinstriping. I purchased this bike used, so I cant be absolute if they originally came that way or not. The lowers also have the quick-detach kit on them which is really nice. Only takes a minute or two to get them on or off.
I have 05 lowers on my scoot. They do have the vents. I bought an entire paint set off a new 05 Ultra. The colors are 2-tone Lava Red Sunglow/Vivid Black. The lowers are solid Vivid Black with no stripes. That is the way they came from the factory.
I bought a set of vivid black lowers from a member here on the forum, they are vented, no pinstripes. 2005 was the first model year that the lowers were vented.
Have an 05 Classic. bought the lowers right away from Harley. They were color matched to the bike and you had an option of having vented or non-vented. My advice, pay the extra money for the vented.
