I was 1900 miles and four days into a 2100 mile trip through NC and E. TN. I stopped for some ga$ and was taking a break. While sitting next tomy scoot having a cup of coffee and a smoke a young guy rode up and got off the worst looking sporty you've ever seen. This kid was scary looking - wife beater, long dirty hair, and a multitude of tats and piercings. I sat there looking at him thinking, "I'll bet that f---ker scares the chit out of a lot people". The kid walks up and hands me my wallet and tells me I'd left it at the counter of the "C" store.
I had about $600 plus credit cards, driver's license, etc in my wallet - everything was still there. I pull $500 out and handed it to the kid. He said he couldn't take my money but thanked me for the offer. I insisted andtold him were it not for him I'd have lost all my cash and would have spent endless hours cancelling the cards and God only know how many hours at the DMV getting a new license. The kid thanks me and says thathe's in between jobs and flat broke. His name is Joey Wilson and I've got to stay JOEY YOU ARE A GREAT GUY!!!
To me,the moral of the story is that no matter what someone lookslike, be it rough and tough or a middle aged guy with gray hair and a gut, it's impossible to seeinto a person's heart and character.
Man, I love to hear stories like that! It restores my faith in mankind and makes me realize the B.S. you see on TV isn't the way things really are. Glad you got your stuff back and I'm glad there are still honest, decent people among us. Thanks for sharing your good fortune with us.
That is what is so cool people in general and bikers in particular!! "you never know what you're gonna get!!"...........my pride in bikers character has been build up more often than tore down!!
It's always nice to get a smile on your face by just reading a story like that.........people will amaze us....thankfully in this case, in a good way....
