Hi everyone,
I am a new memberbut have been reading here for a while. Seems to be alot of knowledge. My friend had a 95' kit done to his 06 street glide with ported heads , powercommander , high flow air cleaner & supertrapp pipes with discs. he says its fast but it doesnt have very good throttle response. Im getting the same done on my 07 RKC right now (103')& worried I might have the same prob. We were wondering if this had anything to do with the EFI.Any help would be appretiated. Thanks.
Like what kind of throttle response problem are you talking about? Does it hesitate? Is the engine slow to respond to the throttle input?[sm=smiley25.gif]
The response im trying to describe is not really a hesitation it just doesnt have that awsome pull whencranking the throttle wide open from a stand still. Its kind of like its got to get going at an average speed first then it fly's. I hope that explains it a little better. I forgot to mention the cam was changed also. I cant wait to get mine back andsee if it the same way.
my 95 inch SE build with 204 cam and TMAX Auto Tune will smoke the tires off the line and pulls like a freight train. I would say the tune needs tweaked
Cams. cams, cams!!!
Assuming the bike is tuned well, the cams used may be "cleaning out" at higher rpm's.
This is why it is so critical to get the right combination of components and to understand what you want in a motor.
My SE 251 cams are alittle sluggish off theline but after 2500 rpm's, ya best be holding on. That's the way I wanted the motor to perform.
You can't have it all, if you have a low end motor, it will run out of gumption as it runs up higher.
Again, its all in the cams! The heart of the motor.
