Default Gamin Nuvi questions

Ok, hoping to find some simple answers. Been scouring the net, and have a pretty good idea, but would like the strait poop from those who know.

Im looking at picking up a Garmin Nuvi 200. They are damn near giving them away now days. I previously had a Quest 2. I am NOT interested in spending the money for a zumo. I simply will not use the thing enough to justify the expense. The GPS will spend more time in my car than on my bike. I am aware the Nuvi is not waterproof, nor bike rated. Honestly, when I figure how often it will even be on the bike, how easy I can throw a sandwitch bag over it, or simply put it in the trunk if I get stuck in really bad weather, I figure i can ruin 3 nuvi's before I have paid for one zumo. Im not interested in the MP3, weather, or bluetooth of the zumo either. I do not want the bulk of the streetpilots either. I honestly figure I can find my way from freeway exit to freeway exit just fine with a paper map. I want the GPS more for confirmation that Im doing it right, and finding my way around once Im IN a strange town. Frankly, I was happy with the Quest, other than trying to enter information using the cursor key and buttons was a HUGE pain in the butt. Touch screens are SO much easier.

So,

1. has anyone had a Nuvi die from vibration?

2. I note that you cannot preplan ROUTES on the nuvi, but you can apparently add waypoints. Stupid question, but are not routes simply waypoints strung together? If I can put waypoints in the nuvi, say, stopping at a given town along the way, can I not then just select the next waypoint and proceed? I figure I could just name the waypoints by adding a number to the front of the name, which would give me the order to choose them in along the way.

3. are their good ram mount cradles for the nuvi?

You cannot pre-plan a route in a Nuvi 200 because there is no way to save it (you need a 700 series or above to do that). You can plan a route from point A to point B & then add one waypoint in between however.

Naming waypoints #1/#2/#3 etc & then just going from one to the next will certainly work.

I would be concerned about the vibration.I've got a Zumo and,at times,it vibrates like crazy.I know the Zumo costs alot more, but it is make for a motorcycle. Not saying that mine want die because of vibration.

I think the big differance between the quest or zumo and all the other GPS units is the screen. In our bright Forida sunor probably any direct sun light you can't see the screen very well. I've tried a nuvi and couldn't see the maps during the day.

Had mine for just over a month, it's great, agree with all that you said. My ram mount (mounted low on the bar) hardly vibratesat all and I've tested it as high as 75mph andover potholes (that part wasn'ton purpose!)and it didn'tmove.

But you can't save preplanned routes as was already said, but every time you switch it on, it starts where you left off.Otherwise, it's perfect and cheap.

The glare can be an issue, but if you angle it right you can still see well in sunny conditions.

I have the 350 mounted to the fuel door and I can see it better there than in the car. I not sure about the 200, but I would think it should be fine also.

I was checking the site that you ordered from and couldn't see a mount for a Nuvi 200. Got a part number or something

give them a call, let them know what it is going on, that you need the handle bar clamp, the ram mount and the cradle, they know this stuff by heart, and very good to deal with
