Not quite as snappy as a cabled setup when you blip the throttle, other than that love it and no problems, My favorite thing about it is the clean look of no cables.
Never have noticed any difference on my 08Ultra from any other Harley I have rode over the years.
+1, no big deal, very subtle difference ..... and boys and girls, it's TBW or throttle by wire. Fly by wire is a military term for a whole different subject. It is also not a wireless throttle as many think, it is hard wired into the system. Cableless throttle is another term that would be correct, but TBW is the norm.

Just my $.02
"Military" term??? Tell that to Boeing, Airbus, Canadair, Dassualt, and all the other civilian aviation users of "Fly by Wire".
I think everyone knows to what the original poster was referring.
My first Harley was the 08 Ultra so it wasn't an option for me. I like it - no problems so far. BTW my 2006Honda Accord and most newer Hondas, Toyota including the Prius, Mercedes & BMW's etc. have had throttle by wire since about 2003.
TBW.. I love mine, and in concert with my cruise control, is great.. I have heard of others high idle issues, but mine has caused me no problems..(knock on wood!)
Also your wife's hand fatigue issue is possibly from the only crappy thing on the 08 SG's.. The handlebars.
I have yet to replace mine, but plan to soon with the 08 Khromeworks ones..
I did do a small mod while I had my stereo out. I loosened the clamp bolts and pulled the handlebars down and inch or two.. Not on top of the tank but a little better on the hands for longer riding..(and in between the shoulder blades.)
How hard is to swap bars??? What do you have to do if you need longer wires?? I'm considering a bar swap and I'm curious just how much aggrivation this going to be..... Thanks

My understanding on the lack of snappines is it's the ECM programming limiting how fast the butterfly opens when you twist the throttle. That's part of the reason some tuners are having a difficult time getting the FBW bikes tuned correctly on a dyno.
Awwww, EXCUSE ME, aviation term, military or civilian. Yes, we all know what the poster is talking about, but until we see Harleys fly, at least maybe we should get it right?
