I posted this before, and have been following numerous links, but nobody seems to have an answer/solution.
Anyone??

I recently sold my 1999 FLSTF, and bought an 2008 FLTR. WOW - what a ride!
I noticed that the HK radio played mp3 CDs. SWEET! I have almost 10,000 songs in my iTunes library, and I figured - 165 songs on a cd - great!
SO - I wrote a mp3 CD. Here's the issue:
SOME songs play fine, some don't. I've switched the order of the songs - no change. I changed the burn speed - no change.
It'll play track 1,2, 3, skip 4, play 5-7, skip 8-17, and so on. (That's not specifically the case - but it's always the same song, no matter what "track" it is.)
SO - The issue is with the specific SONG - not the order, or burn speed of the CD-R. I'm guessing it has to do with the ID3 tags, or something, but getting info in iTunes doesn't really show me a difference.
Someone else HAS TO have had this problem. I just can't figure it out. It's making me crazy!!!
Additionally - I have an Intel MacBook Pro, and have used iTunes, as well as Toast to burn the CDs. No difference.
All of my music is in MP3 format, completely stripped of DRM - so that's not it. The same CD plays fine in my Jeep's (stock) NAV radio.
Wow, that is really odd. I had some trouble burning some of my iTunes music to the cd (in mp3 format) because of the DRM ****, but nothing like what you are having.
Outside of doing a 1:1 comparison to the songs (look at mp3 settings) I'm not sure. Maybe you can check their bitrate, etc. and make sure they are all the same.
But before you do that, I'd suggest an update to your stereo:
I've never been able to burn any Itunes downloads to a disc. Always get a window telling me certain songs (from Itunes)will not burn. If you know a way around this please pm me with instructions. I no longer purchase music from Itunes for this reason - I buy the CD and program my own MP3 CD's.Makes me angry since I purchased the music and now own it just like a CD. You might check the random play option but I know this isn't it. Does the title list reflect the skipped tunes? I also use my MP3 player w/custom earbuds on long trips. No wind noise and pretty dang good sound. Good Luck.
Jayman, so I know this is sorta off topic, but it does relate to teh MP3cd, how many songs can you get onto one disc? I dont really want to use a IPOD on my bike although I was thinking I might have too. I want several songs, the most I can get onto a regular CDR is about 18, on a 80min CD... I was hoping that you would get a lot more on the MP3 format... what do you think?
Went thru that crap multiple times, even recopied the affected songs from the PC to a single CD to try and isolate it and couldn't solve it.
Best thing I did was buy an IPOD Nano and hook it up via a cable directly to the Stereo on my Glide. No more skipping, no more issues with CD MP3's not tranfering cleanly over to the CD and ruining the tunes. Definily reccomend getting away from any type ofspinning disk to get your tunes from and going to a pure solid state solution. It works 9 million times better.
With iTunes downloaded songs off their website....you first have to burn them to a CD in regular CD format (iTunes will allow you to burn purchased songs, but it restrict what format you can use). Once the songs are burned to a CD, then re-import them into iTunes and select MP3 as the format....once that is done the DRM stuff is gone and you can do whatever you want with them.
I don't use iTunes to burn my music for the Harley....using Windows explorer I just create a "Harley Mix" folder and start adding songs...every once in awhile I check the size of the folder to make sure it is under 700 Mb, once its close I use Nero and select DATA disk as the option, then burn at close to the slowest speed possible. Depending on the length of the songs I get between 120 and 180 songs on a single CD....haven't had a problem yet playing them on my 08 Ultra.
I have the same issue. I will burn an MP3 disc and it seems like songs 12t hru 18 skip or stay stuck with nothing coming out. I forward to song 19 or 20 and after about 10 minutes, it picks back up and starts playing fine. I have burned this many different ways and it all plays fine in my cars. No issues in any other of my mp3 players, only on the HD. If you find a fix, let me know.
I'm glad there is so much interest in this. Being a techie myself, I'm trying to find out how I can get a stereo to utilize the hand controls for an Ipod. I'm sure it's a wiring harness type thing, but who knows.
As far as getting iTunes music to burn as an MP3 - well, there are programs that you can use to convert them from the MP4/A (or whatever) format to MP3. It's a bit of a pain in the *** process, but if you are determined to do it, the tools are available. I *think* if you pay a little more for select songs - you get the DRM removed. I think it's like 1.29 per song as opposed to .99 and I usually go for that if it's available.
I wish I knew more, but I've only had the bike for a couple weeks (and 1200 miles later here I am...
