Does anyone know if they sell a shorter windshield for the Ultra. I have a '05. I think the windshield is a little too tall. I have another bike that I cut the shield down to just below eye level. It seems just the right height. You can look over instead of through the window all the time.
Thanks gang.
There have been many threads on this subject, so you can check those out. Any way according to the HD Accessory catalogue, the proper viewing for a windsheild is over it, not thru it.
I have a 9" over the fairing on mine and love it. I hate to look through the shield. Any of these listed above should be able to help yopu out cheaper than the dealer.
I bought a lightly smoked 9" windshield on Ebay for $30 dollars. It fits perfect, has perfect clarity and came with the protective peel off sheets in it and it was ready to install. The price the dealer charges is out of control for windshields. I am 6'3" and was looking at the top of the windshield all the time and it distorted my vision. Now I am riding perfect and the wind is not blasting me in the face as it still goes over my head.
Okay - I thought a shorter windshield would help my line-of-sight (i.e. I am 6'2" tall and the stock shild top was just in my line-of-sight). So I bought a 9". Fixed the line-of-sight concern BUT noticed more wind buffetting on my helmet - put the stock one back on.
Anyone else notice the wind problem after changing to a short shield?
