Initial impressions...opinion.
[ol][*]A very simple design that is functional.[*]Powder coated to look better and prevent rust.[*]Install was simple once I was able to figure out what needed to be done. A few pictures in the instruction would have been a great help. Even a novice that can change their own oil can do this modification without error. The kit is "almost" idiot proof.[*]I had to drill out one hole to a larger size on each bracket. This was mentioned in the instructions.[*]You must have a bike lift to do this install...mentioned in the instructions.[*]Kit is adjustable, so I can raise the bike back to near stock in about 5 minutes if necessary.
[/ol]After install i took the bike on a short ride. Handles better. I can actuall get my feet flat on the pavement. I have a Mustang regal seat with the ride-beads so I am a couple inches higher than a normal HS stock seat. I am 5' 10" on a good day and have trouble getting a firm footing especially when i am not wearing my boots. I ride to work 95% of the time and in flat shoes it does make a difference.
I decided not to go the route of a completely lowered bike...front forks, rear shocks, etc. I pull a cargo trailer (piggybacker) and a camper (aspen) and figured a completely lowered bike might be too low one loaded two up with a camper in tow.
I recommend this kit to anyone looking to lower the rear of their bike. I can still drag the footboards in full circles as before. I dont notice any lesser limits on the full lock turns.
