Seeing a lot of talk about the street glide. I was not sure what it even was, its hard for me to keep up with all the models harley adds. I bought my EG standered new in 02. Some said when i bought it it was very plain jane, and it was. But what a perfect bike to truely make your own. I added a tour pack for the wife. Lots of chrome doodads. A couple seasons ago i put on a black shorty wind screen and a seat from a Road Glide, with the tour pack off it is very sharp. I saw a road glide for the first time the other day and said, HEY, thats my bike. I know they are not exactaly the same, but pretty darn close. Harley picked up on all the customizing from its customers i guess. I hope to post a poic soon. Great forum to BTY, i love it
Seems like the STEALER makes good money on these SGlides and the fully loaded Electra glides are still cheaper..I have heard alot of ppl getting standards and adding stuff and the same with the fully loaded glides..Other than some cosmetics and tail lights, back rider pegs, and painted saddlebag locks the bikes are pretty much the same....
Just my 2 cents worth and u get more bang for your buck..can even get NEW parts off of e-bay to dress er up too..
I think with the lowered suspension and black powder coat engine the Street Glide is the perfect start to create your own bagger masterpiece. Here's the start I have on mine with a new seat, exhaust, and hi way pegs. Going to add fairing lowers, stereo upgrade, removable passenger backrest, stealth luggage rack, and lots of other bling to make this baby mine.
Thanks for the pic. I want something a little more comfy for the wife but not a big sofa cushion like the eglide seat. The sundowner looks like it still keeps that "low" profile. is the drivers portion deeper as well? It looks deeper
Bluto,
I have a Sundowner that I put on when the wife is going with me. The operator part of the seat is a little deeper with a higher, steeper step up to the passenger part of the seat that gives you a little back support.
You sit more in the seat instead of on it. I think it looks fine as long as the passenger backrest is in place, but by itself, the passenger part is so wide it looks funny to me.
The seat is very comfortable on my butt, but it does push me a little bit forward. With my wife behind me for a bit of a backrest, I am comfortable in this seat, but without her I seem a little too close to the bars.
Right now I am switching back and forth from stock when I am solo to the sundowner when the wife decides to ride along. I have a road sofa on order. If it will do for solo and two up riding, I will be selling the sundowner.
