I don't want this to be a financial regret on this mod. Thought I'd ask the question that itching me bad. Someone who I talked with said that the chrome front end will have to be redone from the wear after while, I don't know if he really knew what he was talking about due to the fact his was not chromed. Those who have had this done are there any ugly regrets? l don't want a face lift if later on it will turn into a monster!!!
I've had chrome front ends on my last three bikes and never had a problem. Never had a chip or anything like that. If you like the look go for it. The chrome front end kit from HD is excellent quality......or you can get some take-offs and have them chromed locally.
I installed chrome lowers at time of bike delivery. So far they still look good (2 yrs.). I try to keep the bugs off as much as I can. Wax 'em upafter the bike gets a bath. I think they really look good on a bagger. Good luck on your decision. I didn't want my bike layed-up to install them later. So I delayed delivery by a day to get it done up front.
Can only comment on how long I had mine: 2 years and 13000 miles. Still shone liked mirrors when I traded in the Deluxe for a SG (with the chrome front end!)
not only do the chrome front ends look awesome, they are ten times easier to wash the bugs off than the stock front ends. I envy you people that can afford them.[sm=smiley20.gif]
As others have stated the chrome front ends look great and are well worth the money. In most cases they will hold up just fine. I've never had a problem with the plating. That being said I did get a little sand blasting effect a couple of years back on mine when I rode through Texas etc. going out to Sturgis. The wind blows like crazy out there and whips up the sand from time to time.
ive had chrome front end on all 4 of my bikes and never had any issues with it. i would try and find some take offs and have them chromed cause its alot cheaper than the HD kit. my dealer actually has a copy set that do an exchange with. i used the money saved and had the front brake calipers chromed also which looks killer.
