To all I need help.
There is something that sounds like plastic on plastic vibrating on the left side of the fairing between 2300 and 2500 rpms. I thought it was the leather pouches behind the windshield. I removedthe pouchassembleand that wasn't it. It sounds like the windshield but I'm not sure. Does the windshield ride directly on the plastic studs or is there rubber grouments that might be missing? I'm probably not explaining this correctly, please bear with me. Any input would be appreciated.
the windshield hooks over and is screwed into a brass reciever, More than likely you have a broken INNER fairing bracket they are a POS and break often I have been thru 2 of them in 20k miles, The good thing is the new brackets are only about $15.00 and can be replaced in 30 min's. There are some other post's ref broken fairing brackets.
Thanks for the input. How do you know when one of theinner fairing bracketsis cracked? Are you refering to thenutsthe windshield bolts into?I will do a search also.
When mine broke I started getting excessive vibrations from my fairing as well as hearing plastic rubbing. To see if you have a broken bracket you have to split your fairing and physicaly look at them, I think there are 7 screws in the fairing including the 3 in the windshield, Just be careful not to scratch the fairing when removing over the headlight assembly. One of the other posts has pics of the brackets location or they may be in the service manual, When you split the fairing they are located near the speakers. On a scale of 1-10 for doing this it is a 2.
