I lost the radio screen in my 06 ultra. Everthing else works fine ,just no led . I am two weeks out of warranty. I called my dealer and they said they couldn't do anything. Waited a day and called back and talked to the service manager and he said to bring it in and let them document that it is broken. So i take it in and get the paper work done . I get a call today from him and heres what they are willing to do . Sell me a new one for 1,000.00 bucks and install it for free. (why would i buy a radio fro 1000 bucks that only lasted two years ?)Or , bring it in and pay labor charges to remove it and send it out to be repaired and no guarantee that they will fix it . If they fix it i will have to pay labor to install it.
Does anybody have any ideas as to where i can get this repaired ? I can remove it myself. If not any tips on a good aftermarket radio. I dont need the intercom or cb,just a nice system that works/looks good installed. Thanks in advance. Russ

For the amount of the repairs and the s/h you can get a way better after market model. Check out an indi radio shop. It is not that labor intensive. The Dealer will charge $80/hr probably 3 hrs plus paprts, etc. $1000 can get you a really nice after market set up!
The site I referenced to him says under $200 on service - all he's gotta do is remove/reinstall.
THAT is one of the reasons ah went with the extended warranty....sux, but these machines are complex, an' ah don't wanna work on 'em unless _I_ want to!

Elevate it.
2 weeks is BS. Plain and simple.
Go above the Service Manager's head, and keep going up the ladder until someone says yes.
Customer service is customer service - period.
I know that in the auto service industry, they have something called "good will dollars," that service departments can use to "credit" customers who are out of warranty, etc. (They'll do this if you get your oil changed at the dealership regularly, etc - to show you that they appreciate your business.)
Not sure if HD Dealers have anything like that or not - but you *should* be able to get them to take care of you.
The link above is for 1988 -2005 harley radios. i called them . No good for 06 radios. thanks anyway.
I think i will call the dealership again and do as suggested . keep trying until i can get some help. I am happy with the radio up till now. i think they should help me too. I mean two weeks out and all but no help with a known problem. i mean thats my point ,it all over the web with people having the same problem. Anybody have any other ideas ?
my 06 street glide did the same the radio & the cd player worked fine but the screen was blank i took it to ocala hd they down loaded an up date the screen came back & every thing was fine . sounds like sombody is yanking your chain & your wallet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tell them to tell the motor company that you brought the problem to there attention a week before your warranty ran out. Then the motor company will cover it.I know this works.Iam in the service dept. in a Harley dealer.I have done it plenty of times.
