As I know better since I work for the automotive I would never buy the first year model of anything as others have stated,,,

I would trade my RG in that day for a h2o model. With the power I have in my Vrod and not having to worry or read every thread about aircooled bikes getting hot that would be enough. I admit I like the 45 degree Vtwin sound alot better than my vrod engine (60 degree) however the power is no comparision. I do have to say riding a touring model with a 9000 red line and power curve that starts at 5000 would be different! If HD could just add water to the 96inch and bump the power that would be the trick set up! IMHO

If I was in the market for a new bike and it was the first year of water-cooled tourers, yes I would buy one. It would not be the first year of the engine, it's in the VRods now, so it has been proven enough. Just would need to be tweaked for the heavier tourer and geared for touring.

i have an 08 SG so i took the plunge on this first year bike....it hasnt had any problems for me yet....as for water cooled man there are many advantages to water cooled.....but i do not want a radiator on the front of my bike....if i wnted that look i would have saved 10 thounds bucks and bought a honda. So unless harley can hide it will i dont want one.
SG came out in 06 bud.

96" motor + 6 spd tranny came out in '07.

08 is the first year of the TBW and ABS on the SG.

But on the topic...after buying the first year 96" w/6 speed...I'd probably wait a year or two.

Lessons learned. Nothing too bad, but would prefer letting others guinea pig it for a year or two. But after that? Hell yeh...sign me up bro! I love water cooled.

It seems inevitable that theMOCO is going to have to go to liquid-cooled engines sometime in the future.

Do you think that you would buy one of the introduction-year models?
they already have one....V-ROD is an HD product.....

I know with someone else's motor....still a MOCO product....

OK...i'll shut up!

I would buy one... After owning a V-Rod and experiencing the power those engines generate it would be hard to not want one! 125hp would have me grinning all the way to the bank!

I just bought a 08 Road glide so I wont be needing a new bike for a long while I hope. But I would no buy a first year water cooled harley. i'd wait a year or two. Since thw V-Rod has been around they will probably be ok. If its water cooled why not buy a metric?

I absolutely would not buy the first year, maybe the second, it depends on what else has changed on the bike. If it starts getting more like a Honda, I'll stick with what I have.

You can have the V Rod too.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy the first year model. I probably won't, but only because I expect it to be out before I am ready to trade the Ultra.
