Have an 08 EGUC,,now with 4k. Since new, taking off in first gear occasionally it felt like there was a 900 lb anchor attached to the bike,,not always, just occasionally,,just seemed hard to get it going in first gear. Clutch engages then bike just chugs for a few seconds before coming to life. Other gears fine and runs great. Figured after break in and new pipes, breather, etc at 1k problem would go away. Nope. Took it on long trip to hill country (live in flat Fl) and problem really showed itself, as hills just added to it. Again, only occasionally, and never when cold. Most often when motor is at operating temp or hotter. Easiest way to describe the problem is the way my riding buddy put it- "are you taking off in second gear?"
Anyone have any ideas? Have appt. to take to dealer,,just hoping to get some feedback from the unbiased folks on the forum!
Sorry,,,left out the technical stuff,,,,, V&H slip ons, SEAC, V&H fuel pack,,,bike runs really sweet except for that minor glitch. Possible it has anything to do with the newfangled cableless throttle? Maybe its not communicating with the fuel system?
A bro of minehad a similar problem and it was the wiring inside the handlebar to his FBW throttle. I would take the bike to the stealer and see if it's thrown afault code like throttle position sensor for instance.

Thanks
Mine will do the same thing occasionally. The bike is geared kind of high(3.37 off the primary). Mine will only do it when I'm light on the throttle when I let out the clutch. You gotta give it a little more fuel than you would expect, or it will chug on you if the rpm's get too low. My previous road king had the lower 3.15 gearing off the primary; you could just let out the clutch to get going. Is this what you are experiencing?
Jhill, it's sort of like that,,,but sometimes only I know it happens and other times everyone around me knows it happens. If it starts doing it and I haul the clutch back in and open the throttle a whole lot more than necessary (4k) it at least solves the problem temporarily. Next time, everything works just fine with ordinary throttle/clutch . Imagine taking off in second gear is the only simple way to describe it.M biggest headache is that it is inconsistent (and a little embarrasing, since it sounds like an old harley with a completely shot out clutch) and catches me by surprise. Almost dumped the bike on a hill once because it did that,,able to recover with a whole lot of throttle and clutch work! Rest of that day, everything fine.
