FYRDOC, thanks for the info. The deluxe does look to be a little lower than my R.K., I am a 6'1" so that would affect my ride. I am just really liking the style of that model. Not looking to switch to a different model just yet, lovin my R.K.
The Deluxe has the lowest seat height of any Harley (excluding the 883 low.) I am 6'2 and was uncomfortable with the seat and handlebar set up on the Deluxe. I even tried the Harley Tall-Boy seat but it still didnt feel right. After riding an 07 Road King Classic I knew I had found the bike for me.
I think it is a question of whether you want to ride the bike, or to look at it.
The bagger (any bagger) will be a more road-worthy bike. The Deluxe, on the other hand, IMO is one of, if not the best looking bikes HD has.
I prefer a functional (touring) bike so I have a Electra Glide, but it snazzes up 'pert nice.
Good luck, I think you will have fun on either one but I would consider the type of rides you expect to do. Round town either will do well, but the differences will become apparent on the open road.
I ride and I look. I appriciate the appearence as well as the ride of my Harley R.K. Now that the weather is better up here in the north east, there are alot more bikes out there and I was just wondering about some of the other models. I have ridden the Electa Glide standardfor several years as well as my Road King and love them both, currently I own the "King". I tried a Springer Classic, but found that model too small for comfort.
There is something to be said about the style of these machines, awsome comes to mind!
Thanks for the honest reply. Stay safe!
Without a doubt, the Deluxe is a very classy looking scoot....Probably my second favorite model behind the RKC....atleast from an appearance stand point.....My buddies looks even better now that he put duals off of a Springer Classic on it.
I prefer the HD touring over the softails. I just like how they ride and handle better and in many cases the softails and touring are about the same price.
I traded my Deluxe for a Road king in 06. The Road king handles better at low speed and at thruway speeds there is a night and day difference. Just traded the Road King for an 08 EGC and I have arrived.
I have an '07 RKC and an '07 deluxe. Like some of the others have said- there is really no comparison between the bikes. It's kinda like the comparison between a cadillac and mustang. Both are great cars- the king is like the caddy- it feels bigger, it rides like its floating...for long hauls, you can't beat it. The deluxe has out of the box good looks, it has a "sporty" ride to it, in that you can really feel the road. The low center of gravity makes it a nimble ride. It is also great on long rides, but certainly not as comfortable. I am 5' 10" and at a stop, flat footed, my legs are bent- it's not exactly "roomy".
Either way-they are both great bikes. I find myself riding the deluxe more often around town.
