I'm an Avon man all the way. They don't last as long as the Dunlops, but the ride, and handling is A+.
Hey,
those look like Dunlops on your ride
Why would you want longer lasting less sticky tires when you only get 2?
Its not like they are outrageously expensive. I'd rather have traction I'm not using on a daily basis available for an emergency, than have a tire that lasts me 15k miles.
i just ordered a new set of avon venum wide white walls for my road king. what is everyone opinion of these?? better that the stock dunlops?? how do they handle and how do they last??
thanks
so ?? how much ? do a set of avon's cost ? and dunlops ?
I can get a set of Avons for less than HD Dunlops. The 150 on this bike was around 120.00. I think the Dunlop is in the 150.00 range. Fronts are around 100.00
I made the switch to Metzlers 880 on my 02 SERK, and would never have anything else.
Far better rain tire, and the ride is much smoother, plus they are less $$$. Now that I have the new 06 FLTRI, it will get switched out as soon as the rear needs replacing.....
I am not saying it is a bad thing..............the avon is a good tire, but if you are hitting the road and doing some long distance riding I would go with the dunlop.........local I loved having a good sticky tire that hooks up easily, just be careful if it is wet!!!!!!!!
