I guess I am somewhat surprised...The few times I have gotten down to a dozen or so miles on the display, I couldn't even get five gallons in the tank!
+1 - Three times, down below ten miles left on the display, 5, maybe 5.1 gal of fuel in a 6 gal tank.
....Okay, I guess that was my real question...So when the display hits ZERO, will the bike run out of gas, or do I really have a gallon of gas left in there?? Or is the 6.1 gallon capacity b.s.???
DeputyMike, I guess I could have said, yeah, you'll have gas left, but my experience is every bike is different. I'm getting pretty confident I will have a gallon left when I hit ZERO, if it hits ZERO. It might just stay on LO until it's dead, I've never run it bone dry to see. I still use the trip meter, when I hit 180 I look for fuel, I don't trust the other gadgets because they are not consistent. As I get more confident, though, I'm starting to figure I have about 30 miles left when it hits LO.
Sounds like it holds a gallon in reserve and counts down to when it starts using that gallon.
I guess that was what I was thinking, but since I've never run the bike out of fuel, and don't plan on it, was hoping someone knew for sure. Either that or the damn fuel capacity is wrong. One or the other...
Ran 182 yesterday and the r showed 42. I drove a few miles and it showed 43. A few more and it showed 46. By the time I got to the gas station the light was on and the tank was full...Justkidding. Actually the bike only took 4.5 gallons so the moral of the story is... What's really up? My LED flush guage showed 1 blue dot, and i think i could have gone another 80+ miles. I average about 40 per gallon. So I'll weigh in with this if anyone still cares.... "I think it's r miles till you hit reserve, then you have about a gallon remaining.

My guess too at this point..I guess the only real way to solve this mystery is to ride around with a gallon of gas on my back seat until I run out!
