Still should change it every 5k. Use 75-90 Amsoil severe gear in the transmission. You cannot compare with cars as they run a lot cooler. I have gone as long as 7k when on a long road trip as I do not like strangers touching my bike.I use HD primary in that hole and 20w50 amsoil motorcycle oil in the enging. If you change every 3k it wont hurt anything but can get pretty expensive. go to the Amsoil website and read their white paper.

I know you. I trust your word. Amsoil says 10K. I dont know about that. Thanks for the heads up on gear oil. Does this stuff really keep your engine cooler ?

Don't know what you ride but if it is an '07&nbsp\\;FLH, 75w140 in the tranny quiets the 1st and 5th gear whine.

Every 5k and you'll never have a problem. I do the tranny every 10k but I log 30,000 miles a year so this isn't an extended time period by any means in my case. Primary could probably go 10k also realistically but it's only 1 quart of oil so up to you. But the motor I'd keep it at 5k to be extra cautious.

I have been following drain intervals recommended by and soil for years.&nbsp\\; Every 10,000 miles complete drain, with a new oil filter every 5000 miles.&nbsp\\; I've held to the schedule on two different bikes, and so far everything has been copacetic! I Know, I can use 20-50 v-twin engine oil and all three holes, I don't.&nbsp\\; the transmission receives 75/90 gear oil, considering all the crap that it puts up with it it deserves it.&nbsp\\; If you are one of those changing Amsoil every 3000 to 5000 miles, you might as well go back to regular brand-name engine oil.&nbsp\\; It's an awful waste of money personally, to be dumping the stuff at those intervals.&nbsp\\; It's always been designed as an extended engine oil from its very beginnings.&nbsp\\; The company is alwaysbacked its product, and has been known to back the customer with legal advice in case of disputes.&nbsp\\; Once again as everyone has one.&nbsp\\; This is my opinion.

You can open a commercial account and buy Amsoil at wholesale. I use it in my service trucks (8) and personal vehicles (3) plus my two motorcycles. Motorcycles get changed at 5000 miles. 20/50 and 75/90 Severe duty gear oil in the tranny. All other vehicles get filter changes at 5000 miles and the oil is changed at 15,000 miles. All synthetics are not the same, including Amsoil. Amsoil makes a 25,000 mile synthetic, thats what I use. They also make a 7500 mile synthetic. So be careful when you buy and get the longer term stuff.
