i buy it for the added protection or its "superior lube&nbsp\\;qualities" ,if thats the term, not the longer change interval.

5000 miles is fine for changing oil. If I am in a sitation, like a parade or long intervals of heat I will change it sooner. The biggest thing you can do is make sure you have a good quality air filter.

I run my 2001 FLHT for 5,000 miles, then I change the filter, and run it for another 5,000.I've had this backed up by oil anayl, and it's still shear stable at 10,000 miles.Even after parade riding it's still good to go.I am a Amsoil Dealer, and I own a const co.I have ran it for 75,000 miles in a KW,and it ran out fine.IF anyone is intrested in becoming a dealer,or if you would like to switch your bike to Amsoil I give special pricing to HD rider's.I go all over the state doing changeover's,and have never had one Harley rider go back.Once you gap the throddle your a Amsoil user for life.

Just an FYI for those that run Amsoil, we have a Joe's Sporting outlet that I think is a national chain, they sell it off the shelf. I think it's a little higher than one of those distributors prices, but it's close and handy for me.

Got it. No argument at this end. Amsoil 20w50 and 75w140 made my '07 a much better/quieter motorcycle.

Would other brand oils do as good a job? Don't care. I'm sticking with a winner.
