I'm heading to Austin for the Republic of Texas Rally on 6/13. It’s about a 200 mile trip one way. I ordered some new wheels for the scoot (21”/18”) and they will be here around 6/9 or 6/10.  \\;I can’t install until 6/11. \\; I was hoping they would be in today or tomorrow and I could put them on this weekend and have a week to ride around on the new set up. Do you think I should put some new wheels on and 2 days later make a trip? \\;
I wouldn't....I never chance having noteable work done just before a longer ride....if its running good now go and enjoy the rally, install the wheels when you get back.
Id put the miles on the old tires and make the change when I got home.Never know what little stupid thing can come up when your making the change and all the sudden the trips on hold.I always make changes when down time wont impact a trip even if the change would make the trip nicer.A stripped bolt can set you back.I bought one of the TWR stabilizers and it set on my workbench untill trip was over even though it was an easy install.
I can feel that ya really want to make the ride with the set up, so I'll be the devil on the other shoulder.
 \\;
Go ahead, if you trust the work what could happen, it's not a motor rebuild.
 \\;
Enjoy bro!
I say go ahead and do it if you know the work is done well. just remember to check the space between the front fender and tire. i was told just bolt the 21 and 18 on and go, not so true, when i hit 80 and the tire expanded, bubble the paint on front fender. go have fun and be safe.
If it was me, I'd put the new wheels on before the trip. \\; If you're doing the work yourself, then you know it's done right. \\; Otherwise, you should have enough confidence in the shop to do it right. \\; After the install, put some miles on it to ease your mind before you head out on the 13th.
 \\;
Wait a minute.... the 13th is a Friday. \\; Are you sure you want to leave on a trip on Friday the 13th???? \\; [&:]
