I put one of those Jap trunks on my RG. The only problem I have with it is the plastic is degassing real bad and the inside of the pack smells like moth ***** or something similar. I leave the trunk open as much as possible but the smell is not getting any better. Is there a coating I could spray in there to seal the palstic? T.
Unfortunately plastic outgassing is noticeable for quite some time. \\;\\\\\\; I work in the automotive industry and Audi actually has requirements for 'smell' for plastic parts. \\;\\\\\\; Aside from odor absorbing widgets (carbon filters) I don't think you can do much more than you're doing now by keeping them open as much as you can.
 \\;\\\\\\;
Note that heat can accelerate the outgassing somewhat so having them open on a hot day might speed things up a bit.
