I bought the HD shield that was 2 1/2 inches shorter and tinted. \\; I wouldn't want it any shorter, works great. \\; I'm about 5' 10 1/2'. \\; You get more wind naturally but not what I would call buffetting.
Not sure about the bars, why do you need to move them.
Congrats on the new bike. I'm 6' tall, I had my changed from 12' to 9', one I was riding in the rain and couldn't see anything in front of me with 12"......
Agreed. \\; The stock windshield on my Ultra is right across my line of sight, and drove me batshit on the test ride. \\; I'm changing the windshield immediately when I pick it up tomorrow. \\; I don't want something super short\\; I'm going with something about 2" shorter.

Cannon

1BadBagger, what's a recurve, a windshield that curves forward at the top? \\; I rode last night with the stock shield on again and I was getting the same feeling as with the shorter shield. \\; There was a pretty stiff wind last night so that would cause turbulence no matter what shield is used. \\; I will definitely have to cut the stock down. The top of the shield is right in my sight line.
 \\;
Chuck, was just wondering how much work it was with the fairing just to rotate the bars a little, that's all.
 \\;
The lowers I was talking about in my original post are the HD chrome lowers that sell for about $65, not those that fit on the engine guard. \\;
