Default Help Cutting down Windshield

I ordered my wife an 17 " Windshield from Drag Specialties.&nbsp\\; OK, I got the wrong one, &nbsp\\;my fault no one elses.
&nbsp\\;
I have already put it on and she says it is OK and she can look through it.&nbsp\\; I was wondering if anyone knows an easy precise way to cut it down an inch or two.&nbsp\\; I thought about takening it to a local window glass company. Or can I do it my self some easy way.
Any thoughts.

It's easy! First draw and cut out a pattern of the windshield on a piece of poster board. Tape up both sides of the windshield with blue masking tape and transfer shape of windshield on masking tape 2" or whatever ya want to remove on the tape using a marker. Cut out shape with sabre saw and finish cut the edge with sandpaper before you remove the tape! Otherwise you will have to deal with many scratches around your windshield, don't ask how I know. Once you're satisfied with the shape, remove the tape.

That's how I did mine about 3 years ago...Worked real well, used an electric sander with about 400grit paper to smooth the edge.

I&nbsp\\;have used a 3" angle grinder to cut windshields/lexan, with duct tape on the plastic.&nbsp\\;I find the heat from the cutting disk allows you to break off the edges(?) once they cool. ONCE THEY COOL. Otherwise it burny. Then the sanding

That's it. I used a band saw as I own one however the saber works good.&nbsp\\;One other tip after sanding to a fine finish you can take lacquer thinner on a rag and slightly melt the edge to give it that factory look. Be CAREFUL and have the windshield top edge down so you don't end up with a big drip down the middle. I've done four and all look good.&nbsp\\;

Just make sure you tape it or the saw will scratch it. (don't ask me how I know)

Did you remove all the hardware before taking it done to the glass shop?
