Yep - an' when HD starts (rightfully) denying warranty claims caused by luggin' the engine, don't complain.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; You ARE luggin' an engine under 70 mph in 6th gear.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; You may not hear the noise any longer, but that's because they are masking the symptoms - period.
Masking simply means that the engine is still lugging but you no loner hear it doing so because of the IDS. I suggest that you keep your rpm's around 2,500 rpm's. Yes the IDS as HD calls it has been around many years. Honda was using it in the 60's. The IDS does help with viberatoins and noise. I have a 07 Ultra without the IDS and I have no noise other than what a normal bike would have. I maintain my rpm's to around 2,500. I am not saying the IDS is a waste of money or it isn't worth their asking price. It does soften the viberations. Lugging&nbsp\\; is very harmful. Several things can happen. Crank, wheel bearing failure comes to mind. Check your mpg using 5th gear at 60 mph and then check it in 6th gear at 60 mph. You will (most likely) see that your mileage is improved by using 5th gear. I say most likely because it has some variations of area and riding style. The engine has to work harder when using lower rpm's with a heavy bike, especialy up hill or 2 up

just my thoughts

IDS was a great improvement.TWR stabilizer was a very good improvement also.As far as people saying its a band aid fix-if it makes the bike more enjoyable and you dont lug the engine,go for it!

And its interesting to note the shift points that Harley Published in the manual.&nbsp\\; You could maintain "I rode the way Harley said to".

Here's my take on this:

1. '07 bikes with 6-speeds clatter at certain RPM's in 5th and 6th gears.

2. The clattering has no known history of causing failures of any kind, thus the problem is the noise.

3. IDS stops the noise, thus the problem is fixed.

I don't see why people need validation from a bunch of internet posters giving their a$$holes, I mean opinions, to ride their bike at 55mph in 6th gear.&nbsp\\; It's your bike.&nbsp\\; Do it already.&nbsp\\;

Is it a mask? maybe.Does it get you off your dealers butt?Most likely.Does it let you enjoy a quieter bike?I would say yes in most cases.The above post is correct that lugging will let you hear the noise and should be avoided but this noise can happen outside of the lug range.For many it cant be heard because of wind noise etc.You cant classify all bikes under the same title because it has been shown here that the IDS hasnt worked on some bikes.I was one of the lucky ones as well as most here.This kit is well worth the effort to try and can be&nbsp\\; bought/installed fairly cheap if you do it yourself or at least during tire change.Using the discount dealers will also save you some cash.A lot of R&amp\\;D went into this so called no noise,or normal sound 07s.It was even used in the 08 lineup.

After IDS I can pull smoothly&nbsp\\;from below 2000 in 6th gear.&nbsp\\; I know some will say that I am lugging the engine, but I am not.&nbsp\\; High manifold pressure at low rpm's, under load. would be lugging the engine.&nbsp\\; Low manifold pressure and light load is not lugging the engine. The 96 inch motor with the new style compensator and lighter fly wheels need the IDS to regain the smoothness of the the old compesator and heavier flywheels. The lower the rpm's the more the change in speed of the rotating mass of the engine can be felt. On every compression stroke the mass slows down, only speed up on the power stroke.&nbsp\\; The lower the rpm's the more this can be felt.&nbsp\\; Also the higher the manifold pressure the stronger the power stroke.&nbsp\\;
