Loosen the brackets, you'll have to play with them a bit, but it'll work. Don't force it, you'll bend the pins. Be patient, it'll work......That's what I learned from doing my '04 FLHRS a month ago.
you need to loosen the brackets and turn them with your hand til alignment happens then tighten them in place. play with it a little until you get it right.
