Default Security system opinions

I recently bought a 2003 E Glide Classic. It has the HD security system on it, but it does not have the siren. It seems to be a bit of a waste without the siren. Wouldn't it be more effective with the siren? I think the dealer where it was bought new puts the alarm system on the bikes figuring the buyer will pay the extra for the siren. Is the smart siren from HD the only siren that is compatible with this system? Whats your thoughts on this?

I believe Mack intend to say is AVAILABLE as an accessory from the dealer in regards to the siren & pager. They are listed on-line and in the catalog. I do not know if there is an aftermarket siren or not. Hope this helps.

I say scrap the H-D "alarm" and get a REAL security system! Look into http://www.phantomtracking.com and get a security system that disables the ignition, Real Time GPS tracking in the event of a theft and Real time Crash detection. There is NOTHING better on the market. Unlike NoJack you aren't dependant on your area actually having a tracking device, the monitoring center tells the law enforcement where the bike is as it's travelling down the road. If you crash, the device sends the info to the tracking center where they call you. if you don't answer...they send help. Let's see H-D's flashing turn signals do that... When you contact them tell the "Moose" sent ya I told them I'd send people their way and I want to make sure they know I sent ya!

They retail for $799 Plus Installation and have a monthly monitoring charge of under $14 a month.

It hasn't been mentioned but the Harley security system also disables the bike so it will not start without disarming the system with the key fob. I personally like that feature. I plan on adding the siren at a later date myself, from what I understand it's a simple plug in unit.
