My 08 EGC has been at the dealers for nearly \\;2 weeks waiting for parts. \\; Fuel filter canister housing was cracked. Waited approx a week for this part but it leaked. New designed "Top Plate Assembly" arrived today and it was faultly and leaked. \\; Hopefully they get me going next week... 3 more at the dealers with same problem.

Wolfjack
well, mine went in at 4200 miles for the same thing. \\; Done the same day, but I guess more bikes are failing every day, so back orders are now necessary. \\; I hope I got a good one!

Are the 07 08 models having more problems than normal? I'm new to this family and my God the mechanical Bull sh t on this site is unbelieveable. I wonder how come there isn't more positive comments on the bikes without problems. If all the failures are just normal to this Company it's a wonder they are still in business.
I guess i need to clarify my last reply. I meant with all the repeated failures on 07 08 bikes you would think Harley would be giving bikes away. We need both positive and negative comments so newbies can see 3000 happy customer compared too 5 unhappy customers.
Well that would be nice if we were all riding instead of waiting for \\;Harley Davidson Manufactoring to get off of their "_____" and do something about this damn fuel pump issue. Nothing like paying a note and trying to be positive about the issue and still nothing is being done.
 \\;
Please see my threads and other riders threads on this same issue. There has been a lot more than five of us with this problem. Surely you can add the complaints and please realize not every HD owner is an active member of this forum. I have other friends that are not participants of this forum and they had had their fuel filter canisters replaced due their bikes leaving them also. When very reputable dealers including the gentlemen I spoke with at Harley Davidson Corp. are aware of this being a vendor design defect and nothing has still been done.
 \\;
Gee Whiz! Makes me see the big picture about Harley Davidson. It's reminding me of the not so good old days when HD was junk unless you were a mechanic and just loved working on your bike on the side of the road. You remember, you could always pick out a Harley rider because of the small cresent wrench he had attached to his keys on his paints belt loop. I had a craftsman on mine at the time, and used it often, that is when I could fine the part that had fallen off.
 \\;
Personally that is not for me at this time of my life. We just sank $50,000 in two 2008 Street Glides and this is our welcoming to a new HD ride. Just for the record my wife and I are not rich, just middle income working folk, \\;we decided since both of our vehicles (2000 and 2002 models) were paid off we would purchase new Harleys instead of a new vehicle. Sorry but despite \\;my friends and all of you extremely nice HD owners that I have met \\;over the years if this bull___ keeps up as the way HD handles their business you will see me and my wife on Hondas. As yes we will not expect you \\;to wave at us on the road.
 \\;
I would rather Japan's quality contol over China's. Just look at your HD apparrel and a lot of the HD bike accessories, Made in China! It is a facade that HD is American made the motor and drivetrain, yes. The rest of the parts??? Sorry but that is my personal feelings and right now this entire situation is garbage.
 \\;
Believe it or not but I am not a complainer. Reality is such that HD has \\;known of this problem for a considerable amount of time and have not recalled the part. This failure is occuring on many 2008 models, perhaps even 2007 models as well.
 \\;
Also nothing made in America is given away. We all expect to pay \\;more for something made here in America because people here have to make a descent leaving in order to pay the bills and survive. I have no problem with that, we should all be doing more of this but that's personal economics hence Wal-Marts exceptional success.
 \\;
As far as I am concerned Global Trade and economics is for the rich not the rest of us. This country is large enough to be completely self-contained, meaning we could manufacture, deliver, and supply all of our needs without foreign help. That includes oil because if it were not for the rich we would not \\;still be so dependent on \\;foreign oil. Their are many ways to make electricity and many ways to use it, all of which we are decades \\;behind the curve of resolving this problem.
Cheez! \\; you guys are depressing and need to grow up. \\; Things go wrong. \\; You guys come on here and see a few posts about a fuel problem and you freak out, start talking about going back to Jap bikes. \\; GO! \\; Been riding' HD thirty five years and yeah, we put up with some bad stuff, but the good far outweighs the bad. \\; You "newbies" decide to get off a Jap bike and then you come here and spout **** your first year. \\; Also, think about it, tally up all the fuel pump problems on this site, divide them by the number of '08s sold, then you will have a tiny number that is the percentage of bikes affected thus far. \\; Some guy on this site is freaked out and wants to go get his changed now because he "knows" it is going to go bad. \\; He better change his squealin' brakes, yellowing pipes, TBW, cruise control, swingarm pivots and everything else he reads has ever broken. \\; Like I said, ride it, when it breaks, fix it. \\; If you don't enjoy it, get rid of it and buy something else, but get over the bitchin', please! \\; It's nice we find out if something is wrong, but all you do is turn these threads into a MOCO bashing. \\;

My 07 RK Classic now has 13,000+ miles. The left rear shock blew out I guess somewhere around 10k. Replaced no charge. The bike does not track perfectly and the engine vibrations in the footboards can be hard to take at times (it seems to come and go). There is a fair amount of straight-cut gear noise in 5th. Only get about 38 mpg in normal use (have gotten as high as 46 on rare occasion).
I absolutely love her and cannot recommend the product highly enough. No other two-wheeled make that I am aware of has got so much so right.
